Mary is undoubtedly one of the most famous individuals that the Bible records — indeed the part of Mary is seen as one of the biggest in nativity plays throughout schools and churches throughout the country. And she was undoubtedly a special woman — the angel Gabriel described her as having found favour with God, and her cousin Elizabeth said she was blessed among women. But despite this Mary had a problem, just like us, in that is she was a sinner.

But the good news of Jesus imminent birth was the news she needed, and her response was “My soul magnifies the Lord, And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.” That is, she realised that God, through sending His Son, would be the One who would save her from her sin. And He can save you from your sin too.
