Simply teaching the Bible, simply

When the news isn’t good

This study was taught at our Sunday evening service by Sim Forder, our assistant pastor, on the 1st December 2019. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.

In this study we considered how we can sometimes get in the way of the gospel and become either unhelpful, or at worst entirely wrong in our presentation of it so that it is not good news at all. Below are some of the quotes shared during the study:

There is a lot of stuff that men call the gospel that has no more gospel in it than there is wheat in sawdust; but some people don’t seem to know the difference.

DL Moody

We’re not reading our Bibles carefully if we think that following Jesus will make everything in life easier.

Kevin DeYoung

Too often, not wanting to offend anyone, we end up reaching no one.

AW Tozer

When we Christians behave badly, or fail to behave well, we are making Christianity unbelievable to the outside world.

CS Lewis
