Simply teaching the Bible, simply

Running the race

This study was taught at our Sunday evening service by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, on the 14th March 2021. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.

In this study we looked how the Bible compares our spiritual walk to the discipline required to be an athlete, and how we too should run to win. For example we know we can’t do a single 5k walk and be ready for the London Marathon – it takes training. It takes discipline. And we should reach the same conclusion about our spiritual lives.

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 12:1-2
