Proverbs 8:1-9:18

This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of Proverbs, the 20th book in the Bible. Taught by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, at our Sunday morning service on the 26th September 2021. You can watch or listen on this web page or save the audio for later listening.

Summary of this study

Wisdom is freely available, it is highly valuable and is foundational to life itself. It even calls out to us, that we would listen and apply it to our lives. But are we listening? In these chapters we see both wisdom and foolishness call out, wanting those lacking in understanding to turn their way. But which way will we turn? The result will be clear to those around us, with the measure of wisdom we possess often seen in how we respond to correction. So will we respond like David or Herod?

Application questions

  • Who are you listening to? (wisdom, or foolishness)
  • What are you doing to learn wisdom?
  • How do you respond to correction? Do love those that give it, or hate them?
