Proverbs 28:1-29:27

This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of Proverbs, the 20th book in the Bible. Taught by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, at our Sunday morning service on the 5th December 2021. You can watch or listen on this web page or save the audio for later listening.

Summary of this study

These chapters conclude the third section of this incredible book, with the first 9 chapters having contrasted wisdom and folly, chapters 10-24 being written and set in order by Solomon, and now chapters 25-29 having been written by Solomon, but being set in order by men of Hezekiah. Chapter 28 is more random in topics than some, but themes to watch out for are leadership, correction, and our love for the poor – while chapter 29 speaks about righteousness, honouring parents, and again – leadership.

Application questions

  • Are we choosing the better things described in Proverbs?
  • Are we turning a blind eye to the poor?
  • Is there anything in our hearts that would harm our prayer life?
