Proverbs 18:1-19:29

This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of Proverbs, the 20th book in the Bible. Taught by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, at our Sunday morning service on the 31st October 2021. You can watch or listen on this web page or save the audio for later listening.

Summary of this study

In chapters 18 and 19, Solomon continues to deal with our words, warning us to be careful with them – we are not to use them as weapons, but to show kindness in what we say and how we say it. But further, we should consider how often we talk to others, for it’s easy to think we’re being friendly when in reality we’d find it hard to remember the last time we spoke meaningfully to each person in our church family.

Application questions

  • Do your words hurt, or cause offence?
  • Do you speak or act without thinking?
  • Are you lazy in life, prayer or reading God’s Word?
