Proverbs 16:1-17:28

This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of Proverbs, the 20th book in the Bible. Taught by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, at our Sunday morning service on the 24th October 2021. You can watch or listen on this web page or save the audio for later listening.

Summary of this study

In both of these chapters, Solomon addresses our hearts and our words – highlighting how often we think we’re wise, that we know best, that we have a handle on the situation. However, we’re instructed to commit all to God, to fear Him, to keep His way, to seek wisdom, understanding, and to consider our words (including when to remain silent!).

Application questions

  • What is God teaching you through your trials?
  • Do the quality and quantity of your words honour God?
  • Is your heart right with God?
