Philippians 3:1-21

This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of Philippians, the 50th book in the Bible. Taught by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, at our Sunday evening service on the 16th August 2020. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.

In this study we look at chapter 3 of Philippians – a letter that the apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, to encourage and strengthen them. In 104 verses, Paul mentions “joy” or “rejoicing” 19 times, despite the fact that he was writing this from prison, and he also writes about unity in the church – we saw that at the start of our previous study at the end of chapter one, in our study of chapter two, and we’ll see it again when he comes back to it in chapter four.

As we move through the second chapter of this letter, there are three different topics that should stand out to us;

  • Our Joy is in the Lord
  • Pursue Christian maturity
  • Follow good examples

All studies from 2020 on this book are now available on our web site, as are previous recordings of when we studied it as a church in 2009; you can find all Philippians studies here.
