Simply teaching the Bible, simply

How do we share the gospel?

This study was taught at our Sunday evening service by Sim Forder, our assistant pastor, on the 24th November 2019. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.

In this study, we considered how important the law is in explaining why we all need a saviour. We are not to condemn, for the law has already done that, and as such points to our need. We are not to convict someone of their sin, for that is the role of the Holy Spirit. But we are to preach the good news, and that means explaining what the good news is, and why it is good news indeed.

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Romans 8:5-11

Below are several quotes from the Bible and from preachers, that were shared during this study, and are here for reference:

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

Mark 16:15-16

How can any of us who believe in Hell and in God’s offer of mercy walk past an unbeliever without being horrified at his fate?

Ray Comfort

We cannot help it if the truth offends people, but we must always make sure that it is the truth that is offending them and not us.

Martyn Lloyd-Jones

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;

Psalm 19:7a

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

Romans 7:7

Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 3:24

There are few converted in this world unless in connection with someone’s prayers.

RA Torrey
