Health & illness

This study was taught at our Sunday evening service by Matt Randall on the 30th May 2021. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.

Summary of this study

Our body can be a source of rejoicing, but also a cause of weeping – so how do we use our health? and how do we respond to illness? Beyond taking care of our bodies, not abusing them, we are to use them for what they were created for – serving the Lord. Yet illness is more than common – it is the consequence of living in a fallen world – and as such we should prepare for its eventuality, but keep our eyes on what is ahead, with an eternity free from pain and suffering – there is indeed an eternal solution to the problem of pain.

Series overview: The big areas of our lives

During this series we’ll take a look at 11 topics – one each week – that affect us, our families, our friends, and our church family. We’ll be looking at what the Bible has to say about Education, Career, Finances, Time, Friendships, Singleness & relationships, Marriage, Children, Health & illness, Death, and Church.

Why look at these topics? Well, God has given us everything we need for every area of our lives, so that we know how we should live and conduct ourselves in these areas, our foundation for this series being the first 4 verses of 2 Peter chapter one…

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 1:1-4
