Summary of this study

The Bible is clear – we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24-25), nor should we serve money – for it is a cruel master that at best offers temporary reward. But how do we apply what we read? We first need to understand that it is our hearts that are the problem, and that its natural affections won’t help us. Second, we are to be intentional about our choices – to be good stewards with what we have, to be cautious of getting into debt, and to not borrow that which we cannot repay. But third, to know that God will provide for our needs (not our wants!) – for our worth is far more than the sparrows which He feeds.

Series overview: The big areas of our lives

During this series we’ll take a look at 11 topics – one each week – that affect us, our families, our friends, and our church family. We’ll be looking at what the Bible has to say about Education, Career, Finances, Time, Friendships, Singleness & relationships, Marriage, Children, Health & illness, Death, and Church.

Why look at these topics? Well, God has given us everything we need for every area of our lives, so that we know how we should live and conduct ourselves in these areas, our foundation for this series being the first 4 verses of 2 Peter chapter one…

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 1:1-4
