The Bible tells us, that Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem because there was a census taking place, and while they were there, she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them at the inn. And that creates a picture in our heads based on all the Christmas cards and movies that we’ve seen. But it’s probably not an accurate one, for the Bible doesn’t say that Jesus was born in a barn, or that the cattle were lowing. Rather, a prophecy in Micah chapter four reveals the location would be tower, which we can deduce was a place called Migdal Adar – which is remarkable, because this is the very place where the sacrificial lambs for the temple were born, lambs that would later be offered for sin in Jerusalem. What a picture of what Jesus would do for you and me, dying in our place, for our sin!
