This study is part of our series of verse by verse studies of Philippians, the 50th book in the Bible. Taught by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, at our Sunday evening service on the 23rd August 2020. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.
In this study we look at chapter 4 of Philippians – a letter that the apostle Paul wrote to the church in Philippi, to encourage and strengthen them. In 104 verses, Paul mentions “joy” or “rejoicing” 19 times, despite the fact that he was writing this from prison, and he also writes about unity in the church – we saw that at the start of our previous study at the end of chapter one, in chapter two, and again in this study of chapter four.
As we move through the fourth chapter of this letter, there are four different topics that should stand out to us;
- Be united, joyful and in prayer
- Think on good things
- Contentment & generosity
- Greetings & grace
All studies from 2020 on this book are now available on our web site, as are previous recordings of when we studied it as a church in 2009; you can find all Philippians studies here.
