Easter thoughts: Day 5 – Maundy Thursday

The Thursday before Easter is a day we often call Maundy Thursday. The word Maundy comes from the Latin, ‘mandatum’, or ‘command’ which is said to refer to the instructions Jesus gave his disciples at the Last Supper.

The actual Biblical facts, though, make it quite clear that the Passover supper that Jesus shared with his disciples happened on the Wednesday evening, and Jesus was actually crucified on the Thursday (and the veil in the temple was torn from top to bottom, signifying that we now have direct access to God). And then, after three days and three nights, He rose on the Sunday morning, it being the first day of the week.

The most important fact of all of course, is that Jesus died to save all those who would accept him as their Lord and Saviour, and many people all over the world have done just that. Have you? Will you?
