Summary of this study

We spend so much of our lives working, that what we do, and how we do it is truly important. As Christians, how do we decide the type of job or career that we should do (or not do)? What considerations should we have when considering the time that our jobs and careers take? Importantly, how do we approach these things Biblically? This study digs into just that.

Series overview: The big areas of our lives

During this series we’ll take a look at 11 topics – one each week – that affect us, our families, our friends, and our church family. We’ll be looking at what the Bible has to say about Education, Career, Finances, Time, Friendships, Singleness & relationships, Marriage, Children, Health & illness, Death, and Church.

Why look at these topics? Well, God has given us everything we need for every area of our lives, so that we know how we should live and conduct ourselves in these areas, our foundation for this series being the first 4 verses of 2 Peter chapter one…

Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

  1. Thank you Jordan for dealing with this subject – which is frequently overlooked in Christian circles – in such a sensible, practical but most of all biblical way. Your use of scripture to support your arguments was really helpful and your illustrations were spot on. I was greatly encouraged by your personal example of ensuring your career enabled you to devote appropriate time to church and family. Thank you Jordan.
