Christmas trees can be a fun part of Christmas — whether you go picking one from a field, or drag one out of the loft. And many of us have fond memories of decorating them with parents or siblings. But there’s a tree that is far more significant, and that is the cross upon which Jesus died for you and I.
At first, we might not think that is very Christmassy, but it’s actually the very reason Jesus came to earth — it’s why He is the greatest gift ever given, because His death and resurrection mean that we can be forgiven for all the wrong we have ever done. So while it might be nice to wake up to a Christmas tree, that doesn’t compare to waking up each day knowing Jesus has saved us. And it means that the big decision isn’t what type of tree to have, but whether to put your faith and trust in Jesus.
