Advent calendars have become somewhat of a tradition in our country. This year, I’ve been treated to a Toblerone calendar – other chocolate is available, probably.  Anyway, the idea, as you know is to countdown to Christmas Day. But what is about that day, that they help us count down to? What is it that we really look forward to on the 25th December? Definitely, the presents if you’re below a certain age.  Is it Christmas dinner, with the family perhaps?  Or time off work to relax and enjoy some classic films?  But is that all there is to excite us about Christmas?  Good though these things can be, what should give us real cause for excitement at Christmas, though, is the One who came then as a baby and the promise we have that one day He’s coming back as the King of kings.
