This study was taught at our Sunday evening service by Sim Forder, one of our pastors, on the 24th January 2021. You can listen to the audio on this web page or save it for later listening.
In this study we looked at how God is our comfort in trials – being the One who comforts us (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), who is acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3-6), and who sympathises with all our weaknesses:
Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:14-16
We also looked at examples of how God has been present with others through trials (see Daniel 3:19-27) and how important it is to keep our eyes on Him (see Matthew 14:25-33).
Turn your eyes upon Jesus Look full in His wonderful face And the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace
